The Cyclops PPM+ hand-held thermal imager uses an uncooled 320 x 240 pixel, long wavelength, focal plane array detector, giving a temperature resolution better than 0.1 C at 30 C, and operates in the 7 to 14 micron waveband. The imager uses Compaq iPAQ(tm), which displays a high definition thermal image on a large color LCD screen, visible at all levels of ambient light. An on-board pocket PC mounted on top of the imager has both USB and IRDA connectivity, and a 32 MB flash card provides on-board image recording storage. Additional storage is available on a range of optical flash cards, up to 64 MB. Reports are generated using LIPS PPM+ processing software.
