RTP Corp., Pompano Beach, Fla., has been awarded a contract by Honeywell Mexico to supply monitoring and control equipment for the Cantarell Distributed Control System Project. Located in the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico, Cantarell is operated by the Mexican State Oil Company, Pemex. The project to automate the operation and management of the field involves automating seven production complexes, controlling 27 offshore platforms. The seven complexes will be monitored from a central location in Cuidad del Carmen in the Bay of Campeche. To meet the requirements for fault tolerances, Honeywell selected the RTP 2200 Redundant Hybrid Control System-a high-speed control system for environments that require the highest system availability and on-line bumpless control backup. Redundancy includes the processors, I/O, power supplies, and data communications.
