Kuhlman Electric Corp. and SECO/WARWICK Corp., Meadville, Pa., partnered to upgrade existing furnace controls on the SECO/WARWICK lamination annealing roller hearth furnace system. The existing controls have been in place since Kuhlman commissioned the furnace in 1969. The basic relay logic has been replaced with a PLC based control system and PC based human machine interface (HMI) with Ethernet capabilities. The foundation of the control system is a SLC 5/03 processor and the HMI is an IBM compatible PC with MS Windows 2000 running Wonderware IntouchR 7.1 Runtime software.
