The North American Die Casting Association (Rosemont, Ill.; www.die casting.org) released the newly revised Die Casting Defects CD-ROM. The CD provides technical details of causes and formation mechanisms of defects and suggests solutions for correcting each type of defect. The CD includes an expanded defect sample library of over 300 examples, each of which is categorized and linked to a "causes and corrective action" page. The CD also now includes specific information (courtesy of Teck-Cominco) on the causes and cures for zinc die casting defects.
