The P/M Lab, a division of CISP at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, has received a thermo-stack furnace emissions control system donated by the Environmental Engineering Corporation, Cranston, RI. The powerful thermal oxidizer is mounted above the furnace hood and combusts residual lubricants, reducing hydrocarbon emissions to virtually zero and eliminating odors, thus preventing the possibility of a fire hazard and air quality problems. The system will be used by the P/M lab crew to burn off vapors created while doing research on polymer burnout.
