IHEA Enters Agreement with DOE
April 10, 2001
The Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) has entered into an agreement with the Department of Energy, Office of Industrial Technologies (DOE) to become an Allied Partner. Under the agreement, DOE and IHEA will coordinate programs to meet the Industries of the Future Best Practices goal of increasing awareness of industrial energy efficiency and productivity for process heating equipment and systems. Specific projects identified in the agreement include development of a software assessment tool, which will provide users of process heating equipment and the companies that serve them with an unbiased method of quickly identifying the most promising opportunities to improve their facilities' process heating systems; provide tip sheets for industry to promote process heating equipment system best practices; establish training and educational programs; sponsor forums relative to sensor technology and new materials development; and provide other information and assistance to industrial manufacturers to help improve energy efficiency in their programs. A Roadmap for Process Heating Technology, developed by IHEA and DOE, is currently available at http://www.ihea.org.
