Norsk Hydro to Build Second Aluminum Recycling Plant in the U.S.
Hydro Aluminum Metal Products-North America, a division of Norsk Hydro, plans to invest $37 million to build a second aluminum recycling plant in the Southwest. The plant will use the same technology as the company's first U.S. remelt plant, which officially opened in May 2001 in Henderson, Ky., producing primary quality aluminum billet from scrap using only 5% of the energy consumed in typical primary aluminum production. Besides being energy efficient, the plant will enable customers to recycle their own scrap, in ways that optimize their own production processes.
