ALD Vacuum Technologies, Hanau, Germany, successfully commissioned a 6-ton vacuum induction furnace at Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. KG (VAC) in Hanau. The VIM furnace, with a melting power of 2000 kW, will allow increased homogenization and degassing of the alloy melts by means of electromagnetic and inert gas stirring. The compact design of the melt chamber enables good melt conditions and increased alloy cleanliness with an economically sized vacuum pumping system.
