Thyssen Krupp Stahl in Germany has awarded SMS Demag an order for the renewal of the cooling system computer and provision of the control systems in its heavy-plate mill in Duisburg, Huttenheim. The order includes the supply of software and hardware with the cooling model developed by SMS Demag as well as the necessary modifications to the basic automation. The new automation system will make it possible to implement various cooling strategies for intensive cooling and direct hardening, check-calculation and adaptation, width masking, and head and foot masking.
