Vacuum Furnace Systems (VFS), Souderton, Pa., sold an external quench, 2-bar vacuum furnace to Eaton's Aeroquip Group. The furnace operates on a closed-loop water system, which decreases the potential for rust in the cooling jackets and improves cycle times. Using a graphite element rather than a moly element, the furnace also will provide faster cool-down rates and less deformation of elements. The furnace was delivered in mid-August and is expected to be operational by the beginning of September 2002. With this purchase, Aeroquip intends to replace a similar VFS furnace it has operated for over 13 years.
