Thermal Process Economic Indicators--Orders Increase in July
August 20, 2002
Industrial Heating magazine's Economic Indicators showed substantial gains in both Orders and Requests for Proposals. Backlogs took a steep decline while the perceived heath of the economy also slipped. August index numbers, released today, reflect the changes experienced by responding companies from June 2002 to July 2002. Request for Proposal Index rose from 50.5 in July to 54.6 in August, Number of Orders Index rose from 48.5 in July to 52.8 in August, Size of Backlog Index dropped from 51.2 in July to 47.8 in August, and General Health of the Thermal Processing Industry Index fell from 49.2 in July to 48.7 in August. A number above 50 indicates increased activity. Roughly 375 industry suppliers are surveyed the first full week of each month. If you are an industry supplier and would like to participate in this monthly survey, please contact Industrial Heating Publisher, Doug Glenn at 412-531-3370 or by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
