BOC Installs Oxy-Fuel Burner Systems to Precious Metal Refinery
BOC, Guildford, United Kingdom, is working with Johnson Matthey Chemicals to improve the operational efficiency and environmental performance of its new rotary furnaces at its precious metal refinery with the installation of three BOC low-emission swirl (LES) oxy-fuel burner systems. Johnson Matthey recently commissioned a new smelting facility at its precious metal refinery in Brimsdown, London. The new facility, which recycles spent catalysts and other feedstock to recover precious metals, includes three new rotary furnaces fitted with BOC's LED burner systems. The oxy-fuel burners are designed to maximize heat transfer rates while minimizing pollutants such as nitrogen oxides.
