RDF Facility Planned
NKK Corp., New York, N.Y., will manage the Fukuyama Recycled Power Generation Project, which uses refuse-derived fuel (RDF) burned in a gasification-melting furnace to be built at NKK's Fukuyama Works to generate electricity. The facility will be capable of burning 314 tons of RDF per day and generate 20,020 kW of electricity. NKK will be responsible for building, operating and maintaining the entire plant facilities, including the gasification-melting furnace that burns RDF. Municipal waste collected from the 16 municipalities will be processed into RDF at seven plants. The RDF will then undergo treatment at the high-temperature gasification-melting furnace, recovering waste heat for use as a power source.
