The No. 854 electrically heated, inert-atmosphere floor furnace has workspace dimensions measuring 24 in. wide x 48 in. deep x 24 in. high (609 x 1220 x 609 mm). Kanthal AF alloy wire, rod overbend design heaters provides a maximum operating temperature of 2200F (1205C). The furnace features 9-in. (230 mm) insulated walls consisting of 4.5 in. 2600F firebrick, 2.5 in. 2300F firebrick and 2 in. block insulation. A firebrick plate hearth is supported on firebrick piers. The unit has an electrically operated vertical lift door controlled by remote foot pedal.
