Howmet Awarded Titanium Castings Contracts Totaling $8 Million

Howmet Castings, Darien, Conn., an Alcoa Business, has been awarded new contracts for large titanium castings for the F-22. The contracts, issues by Boeing Aircraft and Missiles, covers LOT 2 procurements for existing Side of Body and Aileron castings. The order includes a new component, the F-22 Arresting Gear. Delivery of the first-article casting is scheduled for October 2002. The value of the contracts total $8 million. Howmet's newly formed Prime Operations, a unit that provides comprehensive services for customers who want to outsource the entire production process, will manage post-cast manufacturing processes and deliver ready-to-install components for the F-22 contracts.
