Most heating-element designs use round-wire, close-wound on mandrel arbor and then stretched to form a helix of at least twice the close-wound length. Element design involves selecting the proper alloy and choosing a wire size that will operate at the required temperature and that can be coiled to fit within the physical space limitations of the device. Determining the proper wire size is based on experience.
