The dry-vacuum pumping system is designed to optimize furnace-running times by reducing the need for maintenance and consumables in vacuum induction melting (VIM) applications. The system has a large tolerance to particles created by the melt and a clean residual vacuum, so there is no risk of contamination. It also offers improved cycle times and process efficiency compared with traditional systems. The package comprises a GV Drystar vacuum pump, Roots blower fitted with hydrokinetic coupling and vapor booster. Systems are available for furnace capacities up to 12 tons, having pump flow rates of up to 135,000 m3/hr, and ultimate vacuum down to 10(-4) mbar.
