Steel Dynamics, Inc. placed an order with SMS Meer (Italy) for the supply of equipment and services for a 200-short ton-per-hour walking beam furnace for its works in Columbia City, Ind.

Steel Dynamics, Inc.placed an order withSMS Meer(Italy) for the supply of equipment and services for a 200-short ton-per-hour walking beam furnace for its works in Columbia City, Ind. The reheating unit will supply hot beam blanks and blooms to a new medium section mill. The walking beam furnace is scheduled to go on-stream at the end of 2007.

SMS Meer's scope of supply comprises a walking beam furnace with a capacity of 200 short tons per hour for 15-meter-long, 7x7-inch or 10x8-inch beam blanks and blooms. SMS Meer will also supply charging and discharging machines and all auxiliary facilities.
