C.I. Hayes(Cranston, R.I.) is installing a 6-bar continuous vacuum furnace atStack Metallurgical(Portland, Ore.). This furnace can handle a wide range of processes from tool steels to aerospace titanium requirements. Its unique design allows the heating chamber to maintain temperature and vacuum 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the quench results are better than single-chamber vacuums rated at the same pressure. Stack Metallurgical purchased the furnace to meet the demands of just-in-time production.
