Can-Eng Furnaces International has been contracted to supply a large-diameter tube quench-and-temper system for FIBA Technologies of Millbury, Mass. The system will be utilized to heat treat alloy-steel tubes in the 14- to 24-inch OD range by lengths up to 40 feet long and wall thickness up to 1.625 inches. Since the tube ends are hot spun to form closed vessels prior to heat treatment, special consideration is given to tube restraint in the quenching technology. The continuous austentizing furnace will come equipped with the latest in recuperative-burner technology. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013.

This is the second order that Can-Eng has received from FIBA Technologies, with the first coming in 2002. FIBA, a global leader in the field of industrial-gas containment equipment, manufactures seamless pressure vessels, tube trailers and related equipment. The company has operations throughout the U.S. and Taiwan.
