According to the Metal Treating Institute (MTI), July 2012
sales for members totaled $83.3 million, a 10.1% increase from July 2011, when
sales were $75.6 million. Perhaps more importantly, all nine MTI districts
reported higher sales in July 2012 compared to the previous year. Canada was up
32.4% from July 2011, followed by the Southeast district (Virginia, West
Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida
and Mississippi), which experienced a 13.2% increase. Year-to-date sales
through July 2012 totaled $634.3 million, an increase of 13.2% from
January-July 2011 sales.
