Tenova Core has been contracted by Steel Dynamics Inc. for
the design and supply of a 100-ton/hour walking-beam reheating furnace to be
installed at its Pittsboro, Ind., facility. The furnace will be reheating
plain-carbon, low-alloy and high-alloy billets and blooms that will be used for
rolling of special bar quality (SBQ). The furnace will be equipped with Tenova
LOI Italimpianti Flexytech low-NOx burners for reduced emissions. Tenova Core
will also design and supply the process-control system and the Level-2
thermodynamic modeling system for efficient heating of the steel. Start-up is
scheduled for 2013.
