AFC-Holcroft sold a new walking-beam furnace with bottom
charge and discharge, along with a heated recirculated-air tempering furnace,
to a Tier-One automotive supplier located in the eastern central region of the
U.S. Both units will be used in the processing of solid stabilizer bars. The
walking-beam furnace is designed to convey round, straight solid bars in a
range of sizes up to 1.3 inches (33 mm) in diameter, lengths up to 78.7 inches
(2,000 mm) and weights up to 28.6 pounds (13 kg). The furnace has a maximum
gross heating capacity of 4,620 pounds/hour (2,100 kg).
The tempering furnace is designed to convey trays of round, solid formed bars in a range of sizes up to 1.3 inches (33 mm) in diameter and lengths up to 60.94 inches (1,548 mm). Delivery of both furnaces is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.
