November 2011 improved from October, as all four indices experienced an
increase and three of four indices showed growth. The change in the request for
quotes and the change in backlog both showed growth for the thirteenth time in
the past 14 months. November 2011’s index numbers reflect the changes
experienced by responding companies as they compare their October 2011 business
levels to their September 2011 levels. November’s numbers:

in backlog from Sept. to Oct. – 53.4
change in the health of the industry through Nov. – 49.1
A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth.
A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look
