Tenova Re Energy signed a contract with Feralpi Siderurgica to supply an EAF
iRecovery® system for its German plant Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi GmbH.
According to Tenova Re Energy, the system will recover up to 20 MW from the off
gas of the existing EAF. The recovered energy is converted into steam, which is
partly sold to a local energy carrier and partly utilized by an ORC turbine
generating 2.5 MW of electrical energy. It is the first time superheated steam
generated from an EAF is used to produce electricity. The iRecovery
system at Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi will be commissioned in early 2013.
