V & M Star is building a new seamless tube plant in Youngstown, Ohio, located in Mahoning County between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Commissioning of the facility, which includes a hot rolling mill, is scheduled for the first half of 2012. After its completion, the plant will be capable of producing 450,000 metric tons per year of high-quality seamless tubes within a diameter range of 60.3-180 mm with tolerances and mechanical properties according to international standards.
The hot rolling mill consists of an FQM-Elongator, an extracting block (EXB) and a stretch reducing block (SRB). Construction is being carried out by Danieli Centro Tube, a member of Danieli-Group, while Friedrich Kocks will supply equipment. V & M Star, which belongs to Vallourec, produces seamless tube in North America.
