It all began innocuously. There were announcements last
autumn that Sinomach, a Chinese builder, wanted to buy land near Boise, Idaho,
to build a 30,000-acre city and industrial park modeled after special economic
zones (SEZ) that exist in China. We find with some investigation that
state-owned Sinomach (China National Machinery Industry Corporation),
established in January 1997 and active in 130 countries, is managed by the
Communist Party of China (CPC).
