Industrial Heating's monthly economic indicators for August 2005 grew for the 26th straight month. All four economic indicators were above the 50-point mark, which denotes growth. The Request for Quotation index showed an especially strong jump in August going from 53.8 to 57.0. August 2005 index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their August 2005 business levels to July 2005 levels. August 2005 Index Numbers: Change in number of Request for Proposals from July to August: 57.0 Change in the Number of Orders from July to August: 53.6 Change in Backlog from July to August: 53.8 Expected Change in the Health of Thermal Processing Industry through August: 51.1 A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, on the editorial page of the October issue of Industrial Heating.
