Tenova Italimpianti Deutschland GmbH, a company of Tenova LOI Italimpianti, commissioned two furnaces in June. On June 10, the first slab was discharged from a pusher furnace designed, realized and installed by Tenova at GTS Industries’ plate mill in Dunkerque, France. The furnace is designed for a capacity of 200 tons/hour to heat up slabs with different qualities up to 1250°C (2282°F). Two days later, the furnace reached nearly the nominal throughput with full satisfaction of the customer. On June 26, the first hot slab was discharged from the walking-beam furnace at the Salzgitter Flachstahl hot-strip mill in Germany.

The walking-beam furnace – designed and installed by Tenova – has a capacity of 300 tons/hour to heat up slabs with different qualities up to 1280°C (2336°F). The furnace, which was commissioned one week earlier than scheduled, is running with a significant production in parallel with two other Tenova furnaces in three shifts and in automatic mode.
