VAC AERO has been awarded an order for two large vacuum furnaces from Bodycote. Both vertical bottom-loading furnaces, which are destined for Bodycote’s Berlin, Conn., facility, have work zones measuring 72 inches in diameter x 72 inches high. The furnaces’ hot zones have VAC AERO’s unique graphite-felt and carbon-composite insulation, and their operating systems are based on VAC AERO’s hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities.

The furnaces also have lanthanated molybdenum elements mounted circumferentially and on top and bottom end shields. VAC AERO specializes in the design and manufacture of high-temperature vacuum furnaces. Bodycote is one of the world’s largest suppliers of thermal-processing services.
