The Series 540 computerized vertical sealant tester (CVST), which supersedes the 904 VST, is a bench-top system designed to test sealants, adhesives and coatings by applying alternating tension/compression cycles to a specimen. The 540 software allows for the counting of full or half cycles. Large numerical displays show crosshead displacement, cycle count and remaining delay/hold time. The software also is capable of performing and counting 2 billion cycles and allows for programmable hold times between each half cycle. Delay time can be longer than a generation, and a hot/cold chamber is an option.
