ALD Vacuum Technologies AG received a purchase order from Thyssen Krupp-VDM GmbH, Unna, Germany, for delivery of a vacuum induction-melting (VIM) furnace. The 30-ton furnace is scheduled to be installed and operational at VDM's Unna works within the next year to produce superclean Ni-Co base and Fe-Ni specialty alloys. Ingots for direct forging and electrodes for remelting in VAR and ESR furnaces will be produced under high vacuum condition.
