Gerdau Acominas and Tenova LOI Italimpianti signed a contract for the supply of two walking-beam furnaces for slabs to be installed at Gerdau’s new plate/steckel mill in Ouro Branco, Brazil. The two furnaces, with a production capacity of 220-265 tons/hour each, will be designed according to LOI’s high-quality reheating furnaces “FlexyTech technology,” which the company says saves energy.

Tenova’s scope of supply will also include a complete material-handling system to transport the slabs from charging to the discharging side as well as the supply of an L2 system for both production tracking and reheating optimization. Reheating optimization is based on the use of an online thermal model.
