Aerobraze Europe, a division of Wall Colmonoy Corp., invested in state-of-the-art control systems for its six vacuum furnaces. The new furnace control panels utilize Eurotherm Eycon 20 displays and T2550 I/O modules, which are supported by the latest Eurotherm furnace control software. The system reduces operator hours and allows the furnaces to be monitored remotely. In the event of a power outage, the controls are programmed to restore the furnace conditions to those in force immediately before power was lost. Each furnace has its own data-logging capability and can store up to 1,000 furnace cycles.

A Eurotherm SCADA system is used as the master for storing programs. It also provides back-up data storage and the interface for remote monitoring via the web. The software is also reducing the time required to produce temperature uniformity surveys. The new system meets Nadcap requirements, is able to produce Nadcap-compliant reports and provides the option for remote monitoring and control.
