G Steel, a Thai Public Company, has awarded Tenova LOI Italimpianti (Genoa) the contract for engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of two furnaces in the frame of its revamping the hot-strip mill in Rayong, Thailand. The new revamping concept is to utilize their existing line with a thin-slabs caster in combination with a new roller-hearth furnace and walking-beam furnace. Tenova’s scope of supply includes one 200-tons/hour walking-beam furnace for reheating the slabs and one roller-hearth furnace to reheat the 70-mm bars coming from the roughing mill.

Tenova will also develop the revamping of the combustion system and the automation system of the existing roller-hearth furnaces. The furnaces are equipped with Tenova’s updated technology, which includes the Level 2 automation system. Tenova operates through a network of 30 companies based in 16 countries.
