LOI Receives Furnace Modernization Project

Voest-Alpine Tubulars GmbH & Co. KG in Austria placed an order with LOI Thermprocess, Essen, Germany, for the modernization of a rotary hearth furnace at its Donawitz plant. The electronic control system of the furnace also is to be modernized. The objective is to boost pipe production capacity at the plant to 800 ton per shift. In order to increase the capacity of the furnace, the firing system is to be replaced. Regenerative burners will be installed in two of the furnace zones, and rated gas flow to the other zones will be increased. LVE Verfahrenselektronik GmbH, An LOI Group company, will supply the electrical and electronic systems required for fully automated computer-controlled reheating.
